Golden State Bouldering

Update January 7, 2024: USA Climbing is in the process of revising its new policy for trans competitors because the late-2023 update received extensive pushback from trans competitors, coaches, gyms, and other members of the climbing community. For unknown reasons, USA Climbing is positioning itself as a global leader in trans exclusion, and its new policy goes far beyond the requirements of the International Olympic Committee or the International Federation of Sport Climbing. In fact, USA Climbing has effectively banned trans youth from competing in about half of the USA.

We're off the soapbox now. Here’s the deal: If you are a trans or genderqueer climber in California who has been affected by the new policy, you can have a free copy of Golden State Bouldering. It's on us, gratis. Get out of the gym, to the boulders of San Francisco. Outside you can be the beautiful, badass climber that you are, without some national organization requiring hormone testing or psych evaluations. Climbing has always been a place for people living unique, authentic lives. Want to keep it that way?

Golden State Bouldering is a comprehensive guide to the greater Bay Area of California, with information on the outdoor bouldering around San Francisco, Sacramento, Santa Rosa, and Santa Cruz. This guide describes 1,600 boulder problems with hundreds of color photos, maps, GPS coordinates, and hand-drawn illustrations. Golden State Bouldering has a philosophical twist, exploring the ways in which climbing can be among the most meaningful parts of our lives. Whether you are new to climbing or an old-school veteran, Moore and Joslin draw on decades of experience to describe the unique magic of Bay Area climbing.
